Well thats it, Chelsea is over for another year and our lovely gold medal garden is now getting dimantled. I just wanted to say a few 'Thank You's;  Firstly to Dan Flynn of Gardenlink who got us involved in this project. Jihae who was there for the whole build and is very gracious, easy to work with and obviously very good at her job. It was a fabulous and very original concept.  A massive big-up to Cameron Groves who does about the best stonework out of anyone I know and is a pretty good mate too!! Also Ben Davies and Stephen (Legend) Scarr who were invaluable for the build.  To David & Phyll Taylor who supplied us with beautiful gold medal stone from Dartmoor. Tomo from gardenlink who was a top foreman and his bro-in-law Colin. Lesley and Elizabeth who did the planting. My mother Audrey, and John who helped me find lots of mossy branches and stumps in their woodland. Richard Bere for the careful haulage to London. Rebekah for holding the fort whilst I was away and for being a great support. Last of all thanks to Narae, Jihae's interperator and great help to everyone!

Expert commentary by Robert Hillier - RHS Chair of Small Gardens panel

The Korean garden was amazing. The subject was very unusual for the British mentality but apparently normal in Korea and not a thing that people find humourous. There were certain areas where various materials from Korea and from Devon were used. The garden was beautifully executed and done entirely to brief.

Well the post title says it all... I found out about an hour ago that the Hae-woo-so Garden has been awarded the Gold Medal and Best in Category.  I'm pretty speechless right now and have lots of phone calls to make so I reckon I'll leave it at that for now. Big, big smiles all around and a few tears aswell!

I've just been informed the garden has been featured on this evening's Channel 5 News and also gets a mention in the following Daily Mail article, after the Helen Mirren bit!

This photo was taken on Saturday, when everything except the path was complete. Everyone involved agrees that the garden looks fantastic, and there were smiles all around when we were informed by the BBC that they plan to use it as the backdrop for their interactive service on the 'red button'. With a bit of luck they'll do a feature on it this week. I am making a special 'Chelsea Gallery' page as there's so many cracking photos, and there are going to be some professional shots taken of the garden, so I will attach them as soon as I have them.

Hopefully all the planting is finished and the timber structure is getting aged and stressed. Rebekah and myself are travelling up tomorrow morning to see the finished garden and help out with some watering of the mosses, and have a mooch around. We will post some finished photos on monday morning....fingers crossed!!

Our part in the build is almost over. Cameron, Ben and Steve left this afternoon so I'm all on my lonesome! There's some tweaking to be done in the morning but its pretty much there. Cameron has been in his element with some awesome stonework, well done mate. Jihae has been great and we've done our best to construct her vision. Now its over to the Korean guy laying the roof tiles and the planting. Another thanks to David Taylor for the incredible stone. Home to the family tomorrow.

A couple of photos that Ben took because I cant find a pc with a card reader! Will post some staged shots soon.
The build is going fanastically so we're going to help another build on main row tomorrow. The timber structure (Hae-woo-so) needs some serious aging to match the wall but we're confident its all going to look great. Got to finish writing as the lads are starving and need a beer!

Bagging up stone yesterday with Ali Sutton. Great fun driving around in a tractor all day, the nettle stings and a wrenched shoulder haven't been so amusing though. Also filled my truck up at Mothers with some old rotton and mossy branches, ta Mum!
Check out the Western Morning News on Saturday as were in it, thankyou to Sarah Pitt.
Thats it then, off tomorrow with Cameron Groves, Ben Davies and Stephen Scarr- watch out London!!

Up at the farm to pack the last stones and load the big one with Stephen Scarr (Legend) and Ben Davies today.
